The investigation was undertaken on 110 Gir crossbred cows of different order lactation and stage maintained at Research Cum Development Project Cattle, MPKV, Rahuri. overall least squares means udder length, width, depth circumference were 65.23 ± 1.45, 63.24 19.03 0.51 86.49 1.50 cm respectively. analysis variance showed significant (P<0.05) effect due to length in cows. Also, had (P<0.01) width circumference. However, exerted non-significant influence all measurement traits. In positive correlation with depth. highly (P<0.01). There frequencies trough, round, goaty pendulous type 63.64%, 8.18%, 11.82% 16.36% Among 48 (43.64%) found for subclinical mastitis. higher occurrence mastitis observed having (66.66%) followed by (53.84 %), round (44.44 %) trough (35.71 shape udder. Maximum number cases larger (>75 cm), (>25 cm) (>95 cm). Highest (78.26%) sixth above lactation. noted which late (46.15%) early (40%) mid (37%) traits shape, association incidence

Biochemical Characterization and Antibiogram of Staphylococcal Microorganisms Associated with Subclinical Mastitis in Lactating Crossbred Cows

Bovine subclinical mastitis (BSM) is a serious economic concern to the dairy industry, and is difficult to control due to elusive clinical manifestations of the ailment. The disease with primarily of microbial aetiology is amenable to antibiotic therapy, but the outcome is uncertain due to involvement of a plethora of microorganisms, host-specificity of the pathogens, and incessant evolution of...

Metabolic Predictors of Subclinical Mastitis during Early Lactation in Crossbred Cows

Mastitis is a complex disease with critical outcomes. Subclinical mastitis (SCM) although lacks clinical signs but it has a profound effect on milk production if occurs during early lactation. The purpose of the study, was to investigate the changes that occur in plasma metabolite levels before development of mastitis during early lactation. To evaluate the association, blood samples were colle...

Studies on Prevalence, Etiology and Diagnosis of Subclinical Mastitis among Crossbred Cows

Incidence of subclincial mastitis (SCM) among crossbred cattle from organized dairy farms was studied. The quarter-wise and animal-wise incidence of SCM was 15.62 and 43.33 per cent, respectively. Maximum number of animals (74.36 %) were having one quarter infection. Right-hind quarters were having higher incidence (38.18%) compared with other quarters. The incidence of SCM was lowest during fi...

Prevalence and Risk Factors of Subclinical Mastitis in Iranian Holstein Cows

The present study aimed to estimate the effects of parity, calving season and year of calving on the prevalence of subclinical mastitis in Holstein cows. A total of 2682 records from 869 Holstein cows in a large dairy farm (Azarbaijan province, Iran), respecting the period from 2006 to 2009, were collected. Data was analyzed using Proc Mixed of SAS software by MIVQUE method. Subclinical mastiti...

Fractionized milk composition in dairy cows with subclinical mastitis

Mastitis is the inflammatory reaction of the udder to invading pathogens. One of the most apparent reactions is the increased influx of immunoreactive cells from blood into milk inducing a dramatic increase of milk somatic cell counts (SCC). We have investigated (i) the relationship between log SCC/ml in infected quarters being >6 (n = 8, group I) or varying between 5.4 and 6 (n = 8, group II) ...
